Hey there, it's Jonathan, and today I’m going to walk you through how to stop spam submissions using Google reCAPTCHA in OptimizePress.
Spam submissions can clutter your forms, waste your time, and potentially harm your email list's quality.
Integrating Google reCAPTCHA can be a game-changer for keeping your submissions clean.
So, let's dive into how you can add reCAPTCHA to your OptimizePress forms.
Why Use Google reCAPTCHA?
Spam submissions not only flood your forms but can also lead to security issues.
By integrating Google reCAPTCHA into your OptimizePress forms, you'll filter out bots and keep your list clean.
The great thing is that this integration works on several elements, including:
- Contact forms
- Opt-in forms
- Login and registration forms
- Checkout forms
In this guide, I’ll show you how to set it up step-by-step using my website as an example.
Setting Up Google reCAPTCHA in OptimizePress
Step 1: Navigate to OptimizePress Settings
First things first, make sure you have OptimizePress 3 installed and activated on your WordPress site.
Then head over to your WordPress dashboard, click on OptimizePress Settings, and find the reCAPTCHA** tab.
Step 2: Get Your Google reCAPTCHA Keys
Next, click on the Google reCAPTCHA version 3 link. This will take you directly to Google’s site. From there:
1. Click on Admin Console and log in to your Google account.
2. Click the + button to add a new site.
3. Fill in the required fields, such as the website name and domain.
4. Select reCAPTCHA v3 as the type, agree to the terms of service, and submit.
Step 3: Copy and Paste the reCAPTCHA Keys
Once you've submitted the form, Google will give you two keys: a **Site Key** and a **Secret Key**.
- Copy the Site Key and go back to your OptimizePress settings.
- Paste the key into the reCAPTCHA Site Key field.
- Now, do the same with the Secret Key by pasting it into the reCAPTCHA Secret Key field.
After that, make sure to hit Save.
Applying reCAPTCHA to Your Forms
Now that reCAPTCHA is active, you can create a new form in OptimizePress.
Whether it's a contact form or opt-in form, the reCAPTCHA icon should appear automatically at the bottom right of your form.
Step 4: Check Your Forms
To test this out, create a new funnel or form. Let’s say you're building a lead magnet funnel.
After designing the page, preview it, and you’ll see the “Protected by reCAPTCHA” icon at the bottom of the form.
This means the integration is working perfectly.
Advanced Customization
If you’re using an OptimizePress affiliate banner or any other elements that might overlap with the reCAPTCHA badge, you can move it using a small snippet of code.
Just add this custom CSS in the OptimizePress Builder Settings, and the badge will shift to the left side of the screen.
Conclusion
And there you have it—Google reCAPTCHA is now protecting your forms from spam submissions! It’s a simple yet powerful way to ensure your lists remain clean and secure.
